Jeffrey Wilms - expert horse training in Scottsdale, Arizona
Jeffrey Wilms Horse Training & Management Company offers reining horse training, cow horse training and arabian horse training, lessons and breeding at the Wilms horse training facility in Scottsdale, Arizona.
At Wilms, our training philosophy is to establish a solid foundation based on the primary fundamentals of communication between horse and rider. We analyze the needs of each individual horse and rider as a team, then begin to build a solid foundation with ground work, learning the gaits, and proper hand and leg commands and placement. Once that foundation has been established, advanced equine education and problem solving become a logical progression. Wilms Training & Management is dedicated to the longevity of the equine athlete regardless of their career discipline. Jeffrey Wilms treats each horse as an individual and not just another number. In doing so he custom tailors each educational experience to the strengths of that animal. This helps ensure a healthy, happy horse that truly enjoys his or her job as a pleasure horse or as a competitor in the show ring.
The Wilms organization is passionate about reining horse training and showing their horses competitively. It is a sport, a hobby, and a lifetyle - that is why Jeffrey and Amy Wilms live and work at the ranch, to oversee all the care and handling of your horses 24/7. Together Amy and Jeffrey bring 48 years of equine knowledge, education and experience to each horse and rider they work with. When you trust your horse to them, you can rest assured that your friend is left in competent, capable, caring hands.
Amy and Jeffrey Wilms work hard to stay informed of the most recent technical advancements in horse training methods. Learning the newest and most humane training techniques are a top priority for them, while always returning to the basics that bring success and consistency to their training. The Wilms training in ground work includes long lining, bit lunging, and familiarizing the horse completely with all necessary tack. After gaining confidence in these areas we begin the saddle work. Developing an athlete that is willing to work and readily accepts discipline is among the first goals of achievement. Our technique provides us with great success in training horses from their beginning as colts, yearlings, and two-year olds all the way to instilling a level of training appropriate for the mature horse, capable of a variety of disciplines. THIS TRANSLATES TO MULTIPLE WINS IN THE SHOW RING AS WELL AS A SIGNIFICANT APPRECIATION IN MARKET VALUE. FOR HORSES THAT DO NOT SHOW, IT MEANS A HAPPY, RESISTANCE-FREE COMPANION.
In addition to our equine training program we feel that it is equally important to be able to communicate effectively with our riders, young and old. Amy and Jeffrey attend classes in communication annually in order to relate well with their students and employees. Clear, open communication is important in the class room and the work place, and need special attention in the riding arena when trainer and student need to understand one another from a distance to maintain safety and discipline.
Jeffrey and Amy Wilms feel that consistency, patience and a full understanding of the horse are essential for a well-rounded equine training program. At Wilms Training, our objective is to make training and riding your horse stress-free and fun while achieving your performance goals.
